Vaginismus Treatment Center

Vaginismus Treatment Center

This section contains information about which criteria you should consider when deciding on choosing a vaginismus treatment center. Choosing the most appropriate treatment center for you by deciding right from the start will then prevent any possible problems.

Most of the patients with vaginismus have similar questions in their minds. Choosing the right clinic is not easy for many couples.

Here are 11 criteria you should be aware of when choosing a vaginismus treatment center;

1. Scientific and ethical working conditions

How scientific and ethical (moral) does the treatment center that you are considering work? Does it have national and international recognition? How true and correct are the methods applied? Try to get answers to these questions directly from the center or from websites, vaginismus forums and social media channels.

2. Is the same treatment applied to everyone?

Vaginismus treatments should be specific to the person and the couple. The standard treatment program is not suitable for everyone. For example, if the treatment center is working on finger exercises, how will it work with those who can never make finger exercises? For instance, in our clinic, there are different and alternative methods for everyone. These include acupuncture, EMDR, NLP, Hypnotherapy, Botox treatment or surgical procedures. Therefore, vaginismus treatments should be designed individually for the person and couple.

3. Treatment Guarantee

Does the center you have contacted offer a treatment guarantee? Does it convince you even by saying despite no certificate? How long will the vaginismus treatment last, which methods will be used, what will be done if there is resistance during treatment? Does your clinic give enough information to you about these issues? Do you feel convinced with these points? Or, do you still have lots of questions in your mind that haven’t been answered?

4. Are the methods applied comfortably?

In many clinics providing vaginismus treatment, some home exercises can be very difficult, painful and inconvenient for patients. What do you think about the methods to be applied after you have discussed in detail with the center that you intend to apply? Vaginismus exercises should be ideal for you. It should be comfortably applied by anyone, should be painless and of course scientifically proven.

5. Treatment period should be short

Now we are racing with time and time is very important for all of us. At which intervals will vaginismus treatment be done in the center where you are considering to get support? How many sessions will it take? How much time will you spend at each session? Couples suffer from financial and moral deterioration by the duration of treatment is prolonged. In addition, many problems can be seen at the same time. So, it is important to get nice results in a short time. Treatments in our clinic last for 3 days. In our advanced-degree patients, this period can be extended to 4-5 days. Sessions are held consecutively for every day and patients stay for about 1-1,5 hours in the clinic. Finger exercises are not included among our applied exercises.

6. Is partner participation compulsory in treatments?

Your partner may be working intensively. It may be a problem to get permission from the workplace. In this case, will you be able to participate in the treatment alone? In the exercises which are applied at our clinic, patients are accompanied by female therapists. There is no requirement for partners to participate. Even, unmarried and divorced (widow) patients can participate individually in treatments.

7. Will the results be permanent?

One of the important points is the permanence after treatment. It is important that your clinic should give information about this issue. In our clinic, problems are completely solved and results become permanent with ‘pelvic rehabilitation’ exercises conducted by our patients. To learn how to use pelvic floor muscles is like learning how to drive or how to ride a bike. It is not forgotten even despite passing years. So, there is no risk of recurrence.

8. Teamwork

In most clinics working under the name of ‘vaginismus treatment center’, only one physician is in charge of treatments. However, vaginismus treatments should be carried out as a team with many professional workers such as the specialist physician, psychologist, family counselor, and the sociologist.

Specialist physicians certified by the HERA-Vaginismus Treatment Association provide service to our patients in Istanbul (Nisantasi),Ankara (Kavaklıdere) and İzmir (Alsancak). You can get information by calling our free hotline and support line. Vaginismus Support Line: 0 (850) 303 2000.

9. What happens if the problem is physiological?

Although many patients have an anatomical problem, unfortunately, they unnecessarily lose time with sexual therapies for months. Some congenital or acquired anatomical obstacles depending on the hymen and vaginal structure may be the reason for sexual dysfunction. In such cases, sexual intercourse can be achieved with some surgical procedures to be applied compulsorily. For this reason, gynecological evaluation at the first session is very important. Your gynecologist should be experienced both in sexual treatments and the implementation of such operations.

10. Doctor consultation

How experienced is the doctor you are applying for the treatment of vaginismus? How many years has s/he been doing such treatments? Which trainings did s/he receive? How many patients has s/he treated so far? A very important issue is the relationship and therapeutic trust that you establish with your doctor. These are the most important factors in the treatment of vaginismus. It is not possible to be comfortable with a physician who you cannot communicate well and cannot trust. That's why your first consultation with the doctor is very important.

11. Environment and auxiliary personnel

Even the first phone call is extremely important when you call a clinic. The approach to the secretary on the phone may give you an idea about the clinic environment. If you still have hesitations after a phone call, ask for an appointment from a vaginismus treatment center for a free consultation. Impressions at the first consultation are extremely important. How is the environment? Is it hygienic, equipped and reliable? How is the approach of auxiliary personnel? Do they behave good-humored to you? Do you feel peaceful in the place you have been? In the meantime, if you have the opportunity to talk with other vaginismus patients when you visit the clinic, you should definitely benefit from this chance.

12. Logistics support

If you are coming from abroad or another city for the treatment, does the center provide support for transportation and accommodation? How will you reach the vaginismus treatment center?
