The area between the vagina and the anus is called the "perineum". Aesthetic and reconstructive repair of this region is known as “Perineoplasty” or “Perineal Reconstruction”.
Perineal reconstruction can be performed with different techniques, changing patient to patient, depending on anatomic conditions of the tissue.

Operations can usually be performed in the clinic with local anesthesia. The perineal body, vulvar vestibulum (entry of the vagina) and vaginal introitus are repaired during the perineal constructive surgery. It is mostly applied simultaneously with vaginal tightening surgeries. Sometimes, excess skin can be removed from this area during the labiaplasty operation.
In perineoplasty surgeries, the diamond-shaped removal method is preferred as the most common. Isolated perineoplasty, which is performed to correct postpartum episiotomy scars, is in the form of cutting and removing a rhombus-shaped piece of tissue, as in vaginal narrowing. The apex of the removed tissue is in the lower 1/3 of the posterior wall of the vagina, and the lower point is on the perineal region. The outer edges of the rhombus extend towards the sides of the hymen.
Apart from correcting the aesthetic appearance, to increase the stimulation during sexual intercourse, the perineum is slightly raised by re-approximating the pelvic muscles at the vaginal entrance, and thus the perineal body is strengthened. In this way, the contact of the penis with the anterior part of the vagina, which is the most sensitive area, increases during sexual intercourse.
However, if the perineum is elevated excessively, it will become a barrier during sexual intercourse, causing painful intercourses. Therefore, the correct surgical technique is important.
The operations performed to remove skin folds, surgical scars, and hemorrhoid problems around the anus are called “perianal aesthetics” or “anus aesthetics”.
In some cases, skin folds in the perineum can reach up to the perianal region. In some cases, unwanted excess skin or hard scar tissue may occur after previous anal surgery, such as hemorrhoids. This situation can also be eliminated primarily in line with the general aesthetic surgery principles.
Perineoplasty procedure can be performed in a hospital or clinic. The cost of perineoplasty surgery varies depending on the type, extension of the surgery, and anesthesia method of the operation to be performed. It would be beneficial to talk to the clinic about the fees of perineoplasty surgery.
